US issues travel alert to its people about terror attack in India

The US has issued a travel alert to its citizens in India, warning them of possible terror attacks in the country during the holiday season.

“Recent Indian government advisories and local media report increased indications that terrorists are planning attacks in India,” the State Department said in a statement yesterday.

“US citizens travelling or residing in India are always urged to maintain a heightened situational awareness and a low profile, monitor local news reports, consider the level of security present when visiting public places, and take appropriate steps to bolster their personal security,” said the alert.

It also noted that public places, such as markets, trains, buses, religious sites, hotels and restaurants were potential targets for terror attacks.

The alert expires on January 20, 2012.

Southern Super Star Rajnikanth in Tirupathi

The Southern Super Star Rajnikanth offered prayers at the famous hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala on Wednesday., Rajnikanth Belives Strongly   Lord Venkateswara, was accompanied by his wife Latha,daughters Aishwarya and Soundarya and sons-in-law Danush and Aswin besides Telugu film star Mohanbabu, temple sources said. Super Star Rajnikanth spent about 30 minutes inside the temple, the sources told. Family sources said the 61-year-old actor undertook the visit to pay his thanks to the Lord for his speedy recovery from the ailments he suffered in May. Rajinikanth had last visited the shrine after the wedding of his daughter Soundarya with Ashwin on September 9 lastyear. The actor, who took ill during the shoot of the film 'Rana' in April, underwent treatment at a hospital in Singapore forreported kidney problem.

CBI Raids MP Jagan Mohan Reddy Mansion

CBI sent a team of officials to Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy's house at Lotus Pond in Jubilee Hills here to assess its cost.

Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy is son of Ex- Chief Minister Y.S. Rajashekar Reddy owned properties disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The team spent in lotus pond  to seven hours in the building located on a plot measuring nearly 6,000 sq. yards and is said to have a built-up area of over 80,000 sq.ft. spread over four floors. The agency has expedited the probe in the last couple of days by questioning several persons.

The raids are held under supervision of the CBI SP. It is reported that representatives of NRSC are also taking part in the evaluation.It is alleged that the raid comes in connection with the illegal assets case against Jagan.

Sources have alleged that the CBI had earlier raided the houses of those businessmen who are in connection with Jagan but kept the investigations under wrap.

In the other case booked by the CBI on irregularities in land allotment by Emaar Properties, a senior officer and former vice-chairman of the A.P. Industrial Infrastructure Corporation, L.V. Subrahmaniam, appeared before the agency. He is
presently the Executive Officer of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams.
